Three Cheers for Plett Vineyards!

It is a little known fact that Plett was named a Wine of Origin region in 2005 by the South African wine industry, and our locally produced wines are receiving awards and garnering much positive attention both locally and internationally.

For the 2013 year, Bramon Wine Estate – Plett’s pioneering vineyard – has won Platter accolades for their Crags Sauvignon Blanc and Methode Cap Classique. At the 2013 Wine Awards, their MCC won 4½ stars – no other bubbly in South Africa received a 5 star. Bramon received a gold in the Vito Vinifera 2013 and a silver in the Michaelangelo 2013.

Newstead Wines, situated in The Crags, was selected for Bartho Eksteen’s Sauvignon Blanc celebration out of 80 South African wines, and their Sauvignon Blanc also received a 2nd place out of South African wines and 4th out of the worldwide competition. Newstead also received a gold in the Vito Vinifera 2013.

There are a total of 18 producing vineyards in the Plett area, so keep an eye on Plett’s Winelands – they are sure to continue their streak of creating delicious wines tempered with our ideal climate and gentle sea breezes.
